All the blue? I don't remember you mentioning this before. I think that means you might have some sort of psychological disorder. Yes, that must be it.

And if you wanted to punch the movie Summer, I've heard she was even less likeable in the script. So be happy. :-)

Referring to Mom's post, I must say BOOM!!

And personally I didn't like 500 Days of Summer all that much. I just wanted to punch her, and all the blue throughout the movie just drove me crazy. There was so much blue that at one point I started looking for someone not wearing blue as opposed to the actual story. Personal Fail.

Dear former daughter: You have finally worked your way out of the will by putting the wanna-be Star Trek movie in your list of favorites.

If it had not been based on true Star Trek lore and seen only as an action movie, then it was okay. But to take the 40 plus years of legend of the original Star Trek and turn it upside down to suit some idiot writer/director/producer's idea of what Star Trek is shows me that they do not know Star Trek at all. Somewhere orbiting in space, the ashes of Gene Roddenberry and James Doohan are forming an asteroid to drop on the heads of said writer/director/producers. And I will cheer when it hits!

I'm not sure what you can do to work your way back into the family but until you do, live long and prosper!

You, sold on noir trappings? Never would have guessed that. ;-)

And yes, I don't disagree about UP. Honestly, it's that part that keeps it from being a rush-out-and-buy movie for me. But it was still a good enough movie to make my Top 10 for the year.

I stand by what I said about the Hangover, too. The noir trappings are really what sold me. I'm not particularly interested in dude comedies, but ... that something else really brings it to a whole other level.

UP almost made it onto my list, but I felt like the middle half with a bird and talking dogs and all the way up to the ending 'dogfight' (DOGFIGHT GET IT? HAHAHA) really felt out of step with the more thoughtful beginning and very very end. I'd love to see Pixar do a movie that wasn't bound to the trappings of american children's fare. Unfortunately, our culture seems incapable of believing that animated movies of any form are anything other than 'for kids'.

The Coens are always kind of hit or miss for me, so I'm interested to see how this one strikes me. It strikes me as a little BARTON FINK-esque for some reason, which doesn't bode incredibly well.

As for 2009 in general, I was really impressed up until about June, and then there was this huge dry spell of quality new releases. My most anticipated movie never even made it to the States. :-( Overall, though, I thought 2009 was better than 2008.
